Hi Brian Simulator Team,
I am Hengye Zhu, an undergraduate student interested in High-Performance Computing for Computational Neuroscience.
First of all, thank you so much for your work. Brian2 was the first simulator I ever used, and the code examples in Neuronal Dynamics were instrumental in helping me get started in this field.
I am writing to express my interest in this GSoC project “Fix outstanding issues in Brian2CUDA,” particularly the task to fix the existing performance issues. May I ask if it would be appropriate for me to start by looking into these related issues? Are they still unresolved?
To share a bit about my background, I am currently an editor for NeuroML. I contributed a PR to GeNN and participated in GSoC 2025. Additionally, I led the front-end modeling for a biophysically detailed neuron simulator (currently under development) and participated in CUDA-related optimizations for the simulation process.
Best regards,
Hengye Zhu
